I received a phone call this morning from a Good News Club parentasking if it was the last day for the club. Her son had told her it was, but she thought it went through May.

It's been an exciting year so far for our groups! We hope you enjoy this exciting update:
All this year, I have taken special notice of a young lady who sits in the back row at our Good News Club©. She doesn’t smile much. She doesn’t have friends that are eager to sit with her. Physically, she looks quite different from the other fourth-grade girls that attend. “Katie” just looks sad most days. She doesn’t talk much but is always polite and speaks back when spoken to.
Write a real-life story to go with the number sentence. Also, solve the problem: 24+9 = ______. Ella got on 24 of her mom’s nerves. Soon she got on 9 more. How many total nerves did Ella get on? The comment on the post was: “Don’t tell me kids aren’t learning anything in school.” We pray you got a chuckle out of that true story.
As I thought and contemplated the new year before us, I was inspired to write this prose:
What’s in a year? Blessings, victories, disappointment, tears;
I heard a true, funny story just the other day. Out of the mouths of babes — this four-year-old boy made this observation: “After talking about Isaiah 53:6, ‘All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.’
It is back to school time! Hard to believe that summer will soon turn to fall. But, great opportunities lie ahead as the After School Good News Club® ministry will start up again in West Virginia Elementary Schools around the state. What a vital ministry God has opened to CEF! Many local churches have organized teams to go into the schools and teach the children the Bible. They sing scripture-based songs, learn God’s Word through memorization, learn about missions and hear a Bible lesson, using colorful visuals.
Oh, the winds of summer are blowing. Soon school will dismiss and children will be footloose and fancy-free. They will dive into the pool and swim like a fish. They will visit the ice cream stand and order their favorite flavor of ice cream and enjoy every lick and swallow.
“How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”
Such was the case of a teacher in an After School Good News Club®. He had a hyperactive boy in his club; (Some of you teachers out there know what I’m talking about). Well, to help this boy the teacher involved him during the club. For example, he held visuals that were used during the teaching of the Bible lesson.
